What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Intervention Specialist position at Eden II Programs?
Eden II Programs is a non-profit organization that has been providing services to children and adults on the autism spectrum in the New York City area since its opening in 1976. We provide services to families within the boroughs of NYC as well as Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island.
At this time, we are looking for a Behavior Intervention Specialist to join our team to support one of our residences in Saint James, NY.
Title: Behavior Intervention Specialist for Residential Services
Reports to: Director of Psychological Services or Licensed Psychologist and Director of Residential Services
Schedule: This is a_ Per-Diem _position. This position requirement is 10 hours per week with flexibility in scheduled days and times.
Hourly Rate: $50/hour
Job Responsibilities:
- Development of behavior intervention plans for an assigned caseload of participants. This may include responsibilities across program sites (i.e. residential, day habilitation etc.).
- Assessment of problem behavior for individuals on the assigned caseload.
- Ensure that behavior intervention plans and related teaching procedures are aligned with best practice, empirically supported treatments.
- Provision of staff training as related to behavior plan implementation and data collection for individuals on the assigned caseload. This will include staff training across program sites as needed.
- Development and oversight of data collection systems related to behavior intervention plans.
- Presenting assigned cases to the behavior management and human rights committees as needed
- Ensure that teaching and direct care staff are adhering to current behavior management policies and procedures.
- Encourage and enforce active and functional engagement of participants across programs.
- Provide clinical support to the QIDPs across assigned programs.
- Maintain active membership in participant clinical teams for individuals on the assigned caseload.
- Maintain clinical oversight of pharmacological interventions for participants on the assigned caseload.
- Maintain necessary paperwork for behavior intervention planning and other clinical needs for participants on the assigned caseload.
- Lead family service crisis team cases as assigned by supervisor.
- Conduct workshops and staff training on a variety of clinical and behavioral topics for Eden II staff.
- Conduct workshops and consultations for the outreach program as assigned.
- Develop and conduct research projects within the agency leading to presentation and publication.
- Maintain knowledge in the field through review of empirical literature and attendance at professional conferences.
Qualifications:
1. Masters degree in an applied field of psychology
2. At least five years of experience developing and overseeing behavior intervention plans for individuals with developmental disabilities
3. Knowledge of applied behavior analysis with documented training in assessment techniques and behavior intervention planning
