Position Summary:
As a Farm Trainee, you will work closely with the Farm Manager, Program Manager, and Trainee Advocate to gain valuable skills in sustainable agriculture while actively engaging in personal and professional development. This position provides a supportive and hands-on environment for individuals seeking to develop confidence, job skills, and life skills. Additionally, Farm Trainees will collaborate with staff to establish secure housing and stability. The 16-week season ends with graduation and another job!
Location: Grow Ogden Farm, 880 28th Street, Ogden, UT
(northeast corner- next to Knox Building)
Position Type: Part-time, 10 hours per week, $12 per hour, March 19 to July 9, 2024, 16-week season. 4 to 6 pm
Organization Overview:
Eden Streets is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals in rebuilding their lives through sustainable agriculture. Our farm, Grow Odgen, currently on a 1/8th acre with potential for a 1/4 acre expansion, focuses on cultivating fresh produce for donation to local food pantries. We are offering a unique opportunity for individuals seeking personal and professional growth to join our team as Farm Trainees.
Responsibilities:
1. Hands-on Farming:
- Work alongside the Farm Manager to actively participate in all aspects of farming operations, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting.
- Learn and apply sustainable and organic farming practices.
2. Life and Job Skills Development:
- Engage in training sessions designed to enhance both agricultural skills and broader life and job skills.
- Collaborate with the Trainee Advocate to set personal development goals and track progress.
3. Community Engagement:
- Participate in community events and workshops to raise awareness about the farm's mission and connect with local resources.
- Collaborate with team members to build positive relationships within the community.
4. Stable Employment Housing Support:
- Receive coaching from advocate - work together to remove barriers to stable or full-time employment
- Work with staff to establish and maintain secure housing during the duration of the program.
- Utilize available resources to address housing-related needs and challenges.

- Openness to acquiring life and job skills through hands-on experience.
