Summary: Directs institutional housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of establishment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Trains and supervises full-time, part-time and/or temporary workers.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff.
  • Plans work schedules to ensure adequate service.
  • Inspects and evaluates physical condition of establishment.
  • Submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, location of equipment, and reallocation of space.
  • Responsible for Monitoring linen/ Terry inventory
  • Manages Minutes per occupied room for housekeeper
  • May on occasion clean rooms if required.
  • Periodically inventories supplies and equipment.
  • Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
  • Selects and purchases new furnishings.
  • Establish schedule and plan daily work assignments.
  • Train and coach employees in laundry, housekeeping and dry cleaning.
  • Manage customer housekeeping problems.
  • Inspect and approve staff work performance.
  • Demonstrate leadership and training to staff.
  • Communicate effectively to staff.
  • Meet goals of production.
  • Develop and train staff on policy.
  • Order cleaning materials and maintain budget.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience in hotel level housekeeping experience is preferred

  • Superior verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate company vision effectively and consistently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional software packages as they relate to the business
