More than just a Biomedical Technician

Travel required: 50% locally, 50% regionally

Skills: EDGE biomeds perform and document preventive maintenance and repair of general, specialized and/or high-tech medical equipment and systems. The BMT must demonstrate a working knowledge and use of required test equipment and the electronics, including pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical knowledge and skills. They also interpret and effectively utilize service manuals, schematics and other applicable service information required to perform and document preventive maintenance and repair of medical equipment and systems, as assigned, in accordance with established SOPs (standard operating procedures).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Independently performs complex troubleshooting and repairs on designated modality, while working within the established procedures.
  • Demonstrate proper methods and techniques of installation, calibration, preventative maintenance and repair trouble shooting.
  • Be able to schedule annual maintenance with customers in advance and coordinate repairs and warranty calls.
  • Source and order parts for repair.
  • Use proper methods and techniques to perform testing, calibrations, preventive maintenance and repair.
  • Instruct customers and staff in applications and operations of the equipment.
  • Submit timely and accurately; service reports, time sheets, expense reports, and other paperwork as assigned. Maintain the daily back order report, cycle count and shipping needs of the facility. Other projects as assigned.
  • Travel will be required locally and regionally as needed. This can be up to 1500-2000 miles per month.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and manage your own work to meet the needs of our customers.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Electronics or completion of DoD Biomedical Equipment Repair School or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and reliable vehicle.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Excellent internal and external customer relations and interpersonal skills. Must be able to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with customers and co-workers at all levels within the company.
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the application of software and how it interfaces with equipment
  • Knowledge of current regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment.
  • Knowledge of color code conventions used in component and wiring marking.
  • Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic equipment.
  • Must be able to pick up and carry 100 lbs
