Elma Elementary School
(1.0 FTE) Counselor
The Elma School District is seeking applications for the position of Elementary School Counselor at Elma Elementary School. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support services to elementary school students. The job of the elementary school counselor is to provide students, parents/guardians, and staff with the support necessary to ensure the success of each student. The counselor builds a program that addresses the academic, social, and behavioral needs of approximately 700 students. The counselor shall report to the building principal.

Job Required Qualifications:
- A valid washington State Counselor credential, ESA certification in school counseling, and a Master's Degree
- WSP/FBI fingerprints background clearance check (fee paid by the employee)
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR Certification card

Demonstrated ability to:
- Utilize effective reading, writing, computation, communication skills
- Develop and utilize community connections to strengthen programming
- Organize, problem solve, critically and creativgely think, make decisions, and apply cooperative learning skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Successful counseling or teaching experience at the elementary school level
- Successfully collaborate with students, parents/guardians, staff, and administration
- Experience with cooperative teaming for special needs, at -risk, and ELL students
Responsibilities Include:
- Facilitates Students Concern Team (SCT) and Critical Response Team (CRT)
- Collaborates with parents/guardians, educational staff, community resources agencies, and other educational stakeholders
- Counsels students, parents/guardians for the purpose of enhancing student success in school, including at-risk students
- Coordinates and facilitates Student of the Month Assemblies
- Assists in coordination of the Behavior Room and the PBIS Program
- Presentations to staff in regards to CPS, SEL, and other items that pertain to the counseling center
- Monitors student records for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding student's academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals
- Collects and analyzes relevant data to build interventions for struggling students
- Functions as an integral participant in teaching teams and provides consultation to faculty and staff around academic and social-emotional intervention
- Works with at-risk youth and understands and promotes positive school climate and culture of ethnically and socially diverse students and parent population
- Case manager for students with 504 learning plans
- Facilitate state testing for the building
- Participates in relevant professional development to stay abreast of any implement current best practices and/or state mandates
- The safety and health of students and others are essential functions of this position
- Other duties assigned
