Job Description:
SDS is looking for a qualified person to work as a sub-teacher aide on call for K-12 students.
Paraprofessional Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the implementation of the daily class schedule under the direction of the teacher.
- Assisting in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
- Supervising the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
- Work with students in small groups or 1:1 time as designed by the teacher.
- Maintaining professional attitudes to students and staff.
- Treating all students with dignity and respect.
- Attending all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
- Maintaining confidentiality about students, their families, and other employees outside the school.
- Supervising outside playground activities, recess times, and student lunch time.
- Follow directions given by the teacher.
Desired Qualifications: 1. Proficiency in American Sign Language and English 2. Strong cultural perspectives of the Deaf. 3. Education and/or experiences in one or more of the following areas preferred: experiences working with deaf and hard of hearing students, bilingual education, learning differences, team teaching, transition, or project-based instruction.
Requirements:
- Fluent in American Sign Language and Written English 2. Must have A.A. degree or above. 3. Must have Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card or obtain one
