    About the Position
    The Student Security Coordinator coordinates campus security, ensures adequate supervision, and provides security for student gathering spaces and potential problem areas. This position assists the administration in monitoring and investigating students’ progress and behavior; is present with students daily building positive relationships to promote a positive school climate; and completes all associated record keeping and documentation needed for the role.

    Required Qualifications
    Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma, or recognized equivalent; and
    • Associates Degree in a relevant field, or its equivalent *; and
    • 1-2 years of experience working with students and/or safety related issues.
    * Two (2) years of related work experience, college credits, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement


    Licenses/Special Requirements: Possession of valid First Aid and CPR Certifications (or ability to acquire within one year of employment).

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Knowledge of the needs of minority students and equitable practices.
    Knowledge of school-wide safety and security systems.
    Knowledge of social and community service agencies and providers.
    Knowledge of verbal de-escalation, non-coercive and non-violent crisis techniques.
    Knowledge of human development and developing positive, trusting relationships.
    Skill in working with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff.
    Skill in utilizing Windows-based software and various application programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
    Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
    Ability to work effectively with at-risk students and families.
    Ability to successfully intervene and de-escalate angry or disruptive students.
    Ability to design, implement, and evaluate effective programs.
    Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
    Ability to follow emergency preparedness practices, protocols, and procedures.
    Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with fellow professional staff.
    Ability to demonstrate professional behavior and maintain appropriate professional relationships.
    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in-writing, with students, District staff, and parents using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
    Ability to clearly communicate behavioral goals and expectations to students and parents.
    Ability to operate a personal computer and learn the operation of specific software programs.
    Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to meet deadlines in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.


    Preferred Qualifications
    3-4 years of experience working with students and/or safety related issues

    * Per Governor Jay Inslee's proclamation, all school district employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious exemption. All new hires will be required to provide verification of vaccination or be eligible for an exemption, as a condition of employment.

    2021-22 Professional-Technical Salary Schedule Level 3: $27.52 per hour
    • Contract Status: Continuing
    • Work Days Per Year: 180 Day Calendar
    • Shift details: 7 Hours per Day; in person
    • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
    Benefits:
    Our benefits package includes Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package for eligible positions. Eligibility for health insurance at the time of hire is determined by holding at least a .5 FTE continuing contract position, or being hired into a non-continuing position that is anticipated to reach 630 hours during the school year. Eligibility for retirement at the time of hire is determined by holding at least a .6 FTE contract (continuing or non-continuing).
