Role Overview:
The Director of Operations has full responsibility for EDPR North America's Operations and Maintenance (O&M) efforts as a direct report to the head of the Asset Operations group. Defines and builds an efficient O&M organization to meet the company's growth targets and to ensure that the operating fleet maintains high availability and efficiency performance.
What You Will Be Doing:
Ensure field teams and contractors are following safety procedures and promote a positive safety culture
Responsible for Regional Field Operations and Central Maintenance & Reliability
Continuously review the organization structure and roles to ensure effective management
Oversee selection, productivity, and professional development of all Operations personnel, including site managers, turbine specialists, technicians, and administrators.
Ensure optimum efficiency and maximum generation availability of all the company's current and future wind farms
Ensure that contracts with service providers (e.g., turbine, balance-of-plant, interconnect and land) are effectively managed on a day-to-day basis
Responsible for the Operating Model and the SOP manual
Ensure Central Maintenance procedures (inventory management, supplier feedback, major component activities, work order processes, etc.) have strong adherence with a drive towards continuous improvement
Manage site-level transitions from warranty to post-warranty service
Seek opportunities to to in/outsource that are economically positive and safe
Ensure that operating expenses stay within the approved budget
Ensure performance numbers are accurate and resolve any reporting issues due to allocation or IT technical issues
Define Performance Indicators (PIs) for Operations personnel
Collaborate with key business enablement departments (e.g., Human Resources, IT, Procurement, Legal, and Technical Direction) to ensure processes, systems, and data work effectively to support Operations properly
Collaborate cross functionally with departments in order to ensure proper operations
Responsible for properly aligning key managers' compensation with metrics and goals
Define and implement operational/metric programs to achieve the Operation's Departments yearly objectives
Ensure that field personnel (internal and outsourced) complete all daily activities safely and in compliance with industry and corporate standards
Additional duties as required
Direct reports: 4-6 direct reports; ~350 indirect reports
Travel: As needed 15-25%
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
10 years of progressively responsible operational experience, including 5 years of managerial experience
Experience managing a geographically diverse operation in a matrix organization with minimum staff of 75 (distributed power production or O&M services preferred)
Experience with both direct and contract manufacturing preferred
Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products (Preferred)
Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise (Preferred)
5-10 years experience in the renewable industry (Preferred)

Strong quantitative and analytical skills including use of PC software such as Excel to perform analyses, including the ability to construct and run economic models
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, multi-departmental teams

Ability to lead, delegate, and set goals and targets
Ability to maintain and enhance customer relationships
