What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT NERC Intern position at EDPR?
General Description:
EDPR is providing an internship for our NERC program by engaging our interns in the core of our operations. As a valued member of the team, the intern will do exciting, challenging work, solve real-world problems, and make a meaningful impact.
The intern will actively participate in both special projects to enrich their experience and maximize their exposure to the EDPR's mission and work alongside full-time engineers to experience the daily expectations and relationships required for success on a high-performance technical team. Most importantly, EDPR's IT is a team in which all employees are vital to the company's success, and value a respectful and friendly collaborative environment.
This is a 10-week full-time and paid internship that will start on or around June 3, 2024 with an end date of around August 9, 2024.
Main Accountabilities:
- Provide smart hands support for telecommunications infrastructure and services
- Knowledge on network devices (Routers, switches, firewalls) and protocols.
- Document all support work and update existing Standard Operating Procedures
- Installing, removing or swapping equipment
- Support and assist in the troubleshooting and testing of network equipment and servers.
- Maintain network and infrastructure inventory database.
- Replace failed networking components as needed
- Support on requirements for compliance stakeholders
- Update and refresh hardware, operating systems, firmware and software to provide needed functionality and security
- Auditing network elements and updating systems of record
Minimum Qualifications:
- Clear understanding of concepts like Network Design, troubleshooting, monitoring, support and Management;
- Fundamental understanding of and hands-on experience with network technologies including firewalls, routing/switching, VLANs, and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless
- Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred
