Title: GED Instructor

Classification: Non-Exempt

Scope of Position

• Responsible for providing high-quality instruction to adult learners preparing for the General Educational Development (GED) test.
• Deliver the GED preparation curriculum to youth participants and assist in career planning activities.
• Developing and delivering engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and offering support to help students achieve their educational and career goals.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Administer assessment testing and compile participant assessment data.
• Ensure participants gain necessary information to successfully obtain a GED (Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading/ Language Art).
• Provide one-on-one instruction, facilitate group learning/tutoring, and assist students with completing tasks.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student participation and respect.
• Provide individualized support and guidance to students, including academic advising and motivation to enhance learning outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
• Enter services into the Commonwealth Workforce Development System (CWDS) state system of record.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education, training, human resources, liberal arts or a related area is preferred.
• Previous experience teaching young adult learners is preferred.
• Ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude.
• Experience in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Windows, Word and Exc
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
