Our client, a chemical manufacturing company is seeking a fulltime Production Supervisor in Cottage Grove, WI. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the production operations through effective utilization of assets and personnel.
Key Details:
Location: Cottage Grove, WI
Compensation: Pay will be based on relevant experience ($60K-$85K ) and full benefits to include medical, dental, vision, 401-K, profit sharing, PTO, and more.
Hours: This position will work on a rotating two-week schedule (5-2-2-5). Once you have completed the training program the expected shift hours will be 6:00PM to 6:00AM.
- Week 1: 5 Nights On and 2 Nights Off (So you would work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and then be off on Monday & Tuesday)
- Week 2: 5 Nights Off and 2 Nights On (So you would work Wednesday, Thursday, and then be off work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
- Responsible for the performance of plant operations as outlined in the annual goals.
- Responsible for meeting safety, productivity, and quality goals of the plant.
- Ensures safety, quality, and regulatory policies are followed.
- Directs operators in all production activities, working with Process Managers to meet customer expectations, safety requirements, and productivity standards.
- Completes performance evaluation for operators.
- Recognizes and disciplines operators appropriately.
- Develops, manages, and communicates the plant coverage schedule of production and utility operators, including vessel assignments, vacation management, and overtime assignments.
- Executes the curriculum for training program for both new and existing operators.
- Works with Training Supervisor to identify and close training gaps and needs.
- Acts as Incident Commander for all incidents on shift. Required to be member of ERT team.
- Supports incident investigations and addresses corrective actions as needed.
- Manages process waste including fuels, water, and empty drums to ensure plant runs effectively.
- Manages loading, unloading, transloading of raw materials to storage tanks, tankers, railcars. This includes driver management.
- Responsible maintaining plant housekeeping standards.
- Escalates safety, service, and quality issue to plant management appropriately.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITES
- Coordinate with maintenance department to ensure that all repairs are made timely, and that the necessary preventive maintenance is performed as necessary to keep plant operational.
- Continuously evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to the plant processes and
- facilities working closely with the Plant Manager and Building Managers.
- Works with other staff members to maintain workload balances. Provides back-up support.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A bachelor’s degree is not required but is desirable in either Engineering, Business, Chemistry, or another related field.
- Five years of management or supervisory experience inside a manufacturing setting.
- Must have excellent supervisory and leadership skills in an organic manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and experience in organic polymerizations is desirable.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Power Point, Word, and Excel required.
- CDL license with hazmat endorsement preferred or willing to be trained.
- Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
