Position Summary:
Under direction of the Campus President and in coordination with the Director or Dean of Education (DOE), the Student Success Advisor (SSA) provides students with the support, coaching, and guidance required for students to be successful and complete their programs of study. Additionally, the SSA serves the campus liaison for re-entry students from outreach to orientation and graduation. The SSA facilitates campus restart initiatives and is responsible for achieving and exceeding the assigned institutional restart goals. SSAs coordinate students’ interactions with various internal and external departments and/or agencies including but not limited to Admissions, Education, Financial Aid, Business Office, Externship, Career Services, Espyr, and community support organizations. The SSA establishes relationships with students and conducts non-academic advising with restart students and select at-risk students. SSAs are ethical, detail and customer-service oriented with a strong interpersonal/human relations skills interested in impacting student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts non-academic advising with restart students and other at-risk students as identified by the Dean of Education, Dean of Nursing, and/or Program Directors/Leads.
Attends LDA meetings with the DOE and PDs to assist with student outreach and retention activities.
Prepares and delivers presentations on topics such as test taking tips, note taking tips, study skills, and time management.
Maintains listing of current community resources.
Coordinates and/or supports campus retention and student success efforts.
Serves as liaison for campus restarts; contacts potential restarts from approved restart list via phone, email, and/or letters; maintains updated student contact information; discusses restart options with students; addresses students’ restart questions; follows up with potential restart students; assists students with restart paperwork; and tracks various documents as needed.
Consults with various campus departments to determine students’ restart status; serves as a liaison within the campus and between students’ and campus personnel; updates student contact information in the student information system (SIS) sets students’ campus appointments and reminders as needed.
Achieves campus restart budget and goals.
Prepares and disseminates restart information and reports as requested; distributes appropriate restart materials to students, and campus personnel.
Monitors restart students’ status; assists with campus programs for high-risk restart students; prepares program/meeting materials as needed; attends meetings/programs held for high-risk restart students.
Resolves campus restart challenges and bottlenecks with assistance from appropriate campus administration, staff, and faculty.
Participates in training sessions provided by the National Director of Restart Programs
Complies with appropriate Education Affiliates (EA) and campus academic policies and procedures.
