The Center for Children and Technology (CCT) has an opening for a Casual Research Scientist, reporting to a Senior Research Scientist to support research design, data collection, and analyses, as well as codesign of middle grades interdisciplinary, technology-based data literacy curricula. The researcher will join CCT's multidisciplinary team of researchers, developers and educators and will provide on-going support for a National Science Foundation-funded project that explores the development of curricula and digital tools with middle school Math and ELA teachers that will leverage youth's practices with digital media remixing to develop argumentation skills and the critical data literacies necessary to participate in today's workforce and as informed citizens
CCT, based in New York City, is a research and development center within Educational Development Center, Inc. Founded in 1980, CCT investigates how technology can influence and enhance teaching and learning across a wide range of educational settings. CCT conducts basic, applied and formative research, working in collaboration with educational, corporate, government and research institutions. CCT also designs and develops prototype software and instructional resources that support engaged, active learning.
An ideal candidate will bring advanced disciplinary training in a combination of fields and/or areas of interest including math and data literacy in the middle grades, interdisciplinary curricula, co-design with educators, research on instruction, and/or supporting learning with digital tools. This position is open to candidates from a variety of social science backgrounds (such as developmental psychology, sociology, or the learning sciences) and methodological expertise (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods). The ideal candidate will value working collaboratively with colleagues with diverse areas of expertise, and be willing to engage with all phases of project development, implementation, research and writing.
EDC temporary or "casual" employees generally work as needed. A casual position receives statutory benefits of Social Security contributions, Medicare contributions, unemployment insurance, worker's compensation insurance and sick leave. A casual position ends when work is complete.

This position offers an anticipated hourly base range of approximately $45 to $50. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
