PROJECT DIRECTOR, TRiO EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY CENTER (GRANT FUNDED)

MALCOLM X COLLEGE

 

Malcolm X College is seeking a Project Director of Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) to provide educationally and economically disadvantaged students the opportunity to prepare for post secondary study at various academic institutions.

The Project Director will train EOC staff on how to lend guidance to patrons regarding financial aid, academic assistance and applying for admission to institutions and programs of postsecondary education. Management will oversee all aspects of the program to ensure the objectives are successfully met.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develops and implements internal strategies to improve the center’s operations and compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Hires, trains and supervises staff.
  • Prepares funding grants along with financial, statistical and narrative reports
  • Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of the EOC grant.
  • Develops and administers the grant budget within the appropriate guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance in record keeping, purchase and utilization of equipment, cost allocation and internal and external reporting.
  • Maintains communication with individuals at the College, target schools, and local community agencies and organizations to ensure that the goals of the program are being met.
  • Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business Administration or a related field (Masters preferred) supplemented by a minimum of three years experience in program administration for adults from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Must be self-directed, innovative and able to assess current operations in an effort to develop practical action programs to improve the functioning of the department.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate programs for low-income, minority students and have some familiarity with target areas and community resources.
  • Experience in writing and managing contracts and grants.
  • Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, prepare and generate reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must be able to work well within a culturally diverse environment with the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
