Salary: This is a full-time (12) twelve-month position at 232 days with a minimum annual salary of $60,052.
Job Summary: Provide training, technical assistance and support for first year Special Education teachers participating in the Region 13 Alternative Certification Program. Coordinate and facilitate training for all field specialists in best practices related to coaching and mentoring first year teachers. Prepare, coordinate, and teach the Paraprofessional Institute offered at several times during the year.
Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Education/Certificates):
- Bachelor’s Degree with advanced study in curriculum and instruction
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Special Education and Core Content (EC-6, 4-8 or 7-12)
- Training in development of novice teachers/adult learners
Preferred Qualificatoins (Knowledge, Skills, & Education/Certificates):
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Work related experience in providing support for certification programs, interns and district clients preferred
- Current knowledge of Special Education curriculum, instruction and assessment practices
- Current knowledge of certification requirements
- Effective communication and technology skills- written and verbal; including video conferencing
- Experience in desktop publishing, data base maintenance and technology
- Organizational skills; managing large projects
- Ability to give clear and specific and timely feedback to adult learners
Major Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Serve as the representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tack, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public.
- Ensure confidentiality of oral, written and electronic information.
- Communicate current information regarding the Special Education Cohort and ECP Alternative Certification Program.
- Manage all Special Education cohort interns from admission to completion.
- Develop marketing for the Special Education program and develop partnerships with districts related to this certification.
- Develop and facilitate paraprofessional development training and scope and sequence aligned to meet the standards outlined by TEA.
- Adhere to the edTPA policies and procedures for the integrity of the Region 13 Alternative Certification Program.
- Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the ECP Policy Handbook.
Budget Responsibilities: Work with the ECP Budget Manager for all budget allotments for contract training, contract support and materials of the Special Education cohort and Paraprofessional Institute.

- Frequent travel within ESC Region (personal vehicle)
