Teacher - Specific Learning Disabilities - Language Arts & Literacy (Estero location)

The mission of Educational Pathways Academy is to provide an innovative program to strengthen the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual learning of students with language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia.

We are seeking to fill a Language Arts & Literacy teacher position at our North Campus (Estero) for Upper School (grades 6-9) for the 2024-2025 school year. Teacher will be equipped with effective, structured, and quality curriculums. All training and teaching tools provided. Class sizes for targeted instructional literacy classes are small, typically 5-8 students. Each class (or instructional period) contains students who need the same level of instruction. Language Arts classes are small, typically with 8-12 students. (12 students is the maximum number in a class.)

Educational Pathways Academy is a private, Christian school in both Naples & Estero Florida that is dedicated to serving students in grades 1-12 with language-based learning differences in a small group setting. We currently serve students at our South Campus located at 1351 Pine Street, Naples, FL and at our new North Campus, located at 23601 N. Commons Dr, Estero, FL. This position is open at the North Campus in Estero, FL.

At EPA, we educate students with language-based learning disabilities and learning differences through instruction designed to complement and address each student’s individual needs. The curriculum focuses on depth of understanding to make learning meaningful and therefore, maximize educational success. We believe that each child is a masterpiece of God. We use God's Word and the truths contained within it, as an important tool to assist students in understanding their unique gifts and talents. Educational Pathways Academy recognizes and celebrates learner passions and strengths, while also addressing their disabilities and weaknesses. We believe that learners are neither defined nor limited by labels.

Teacher Position Overview:

We seek an educator to join an interdisciplinary team of amazing educators who are truly changing the lives of the students we serve. The educator must be committed to providing excellence in instruction for students with learning disabilities. This includes knowledge of and experience with research-based, effective practices such as structured lessons, multi-sensory teaching, and direct instruction. Intensive training in the specialized reading approach will be provided. Ideal candidates have the attributes of professionalism, flexibility, willingness to collaborate, creativity, humor, and passion for emerging research and pedagogy. They must possess the insight and skills to participate fully on a team which seeks to fulfill our mission with excellence.

Teacher Position Purpose:

The Teacher is responsible for creating a vibrant, student-centered environment that supports the learning and personal growth of each student. He or she must be skillful in establishing a strong relationship with students and creating learning opportunities that motivate and inspire students to develop all aspects of their profiles.

Teacher Position Expectations:

● Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with EPA's instructional and philosophical standards

● Provides varied, research-based, student-centered instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student

● Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to effectively and actively engage students

● Guides students to know their own profile and to advocate for their learning needs

● Works collaboratively with the teaching team on behalf of students, and seeks the ideas, feedback or advice of colleagues as an integral part of effective planning

● Integrates modern technologies, media, and other tools into instruction

● Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior through relationship, positive reinforcement, and support

● Evaluates and documents academic and social growth of students, and keeps required records

● Communicates regularly and thoroughly with parents or guardians through conferences and other means to discuss student progress

● Supervises and monitors students in class and during transitions for the safety of students, both physically and emotionally

● Performs other school duties as assigned

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree required
● Florida State Teaching Certificate preferred (or willingness to seek certification)
● Teaching experience with students with learning disabilities preferred
● Experience with Orton-Gillingham approach is a plus

Salary: $48,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year (10 month position, August-May)
