Job Title: Day Treatment/School Educational Therapeutic Coach
Department: Behavior Health Services
Education Level and Certification: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior experience with Behavioral and Mental Health needs is preferred but not required. Other requirements: valid driver’s license, good physical exam, and ability to maintain the confidentiality of student information. This position is 185 days with possibility of additional summer hours.

Performance Responsibilities and Job Tasks
- The ESU #13 Day Treatment/School Educational Therapeutic Coach is responsible for provide assistance to the educational staff regarding social emotional learning skills and implementation of therapeutic supports/programming within the Day Treatment/Day School setting. SU #13.
- Function within the philosophy of the day treatment/day school.
- Acknowledge the specific nature of the student’s emotional and behavioral difficulty and consider the effect with community, caregivers, family members, and program staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of each student as an individual within the framework of their history and family system.
- Participate as a Treatment Team member in assessing the academic, social and emotional needs of the student.
- Participating as an Intake Team member
- Contribute in the development and implementation of individualized student educational treatment plans.
- Help plan and participate in educational, social and recreational activities for individuals and groups of students in accordance with treatment plan goals.
- Participate in training, as determined by Therapeutic Coordinator, including but not limited to the Neurosequential Model of Education, De-escalation training, and any further training added.
- Coach teachers in implementation of this programming, as well as therapeutic service delivery goals within the educational setting.
- Provide training to school district staff and families as needed.
- Develop supportive interpersonal relationships with individuals and groups of students and families in accordance with treatment plan goals.
- Provide de-escalation intervention to clients, when indicated and as appropriate.
- Maintain quality documentation as appropriate.
- Participate in agency committees to develop and implement program/service enhancement.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor.
- Assists teachers in problem solving by offering ideas and suggestions for program improvement.
- Exercises initiative in giving assistance to teachers and students wherever and whenever it is needed regardless of customary duties and assignments.
- Submits incident reports according to procedure.
- Participates in in-service training and staff development as requested.
- Performs other assigned duties as requested by the Administrator, Program Director, or classroom teachers.
Working Conditions
- Inside heated and air conditioned classroom.
- Outside for activities with students and student supervision.
- Exposure to incidents of aggression when working with students with behavioral impairments.
At-Will Position. This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the ESU 13 Administrator or ESU 13 Administrator’s designee.
