Job Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for the successful management of products and suppliers with a concentration in the assigned categories. Works closely with other members of the Merchandising team and any direct reports who will assist in supporting Category and Product Management functions. Also responsible for maintaining positive relationships with outside suppliers, and some travel is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for all aspects of the assigned product categories and continuous improvement of high level category sales, margins, and GMROI.
- Develop, negotiate, and manage supplier programs and relationships.
- Research and approve new suppliers, items and cost changes.
- Conduct regular category reviews with preferred suppliers and senior management.
- Analyze market trends to develop respective merchandising plans.
- Plan and implement marketing activities to support the merchandising plans as well as develop advertising materials to support the marketing activities.
- Train and develop and counsel direct report on educational and job opportunities which will enhance their career development
- Coaches and counsels direct report on performance issues and conduct periodic meetings with direct reports.
- Plan, schedule and assign workload and monitor work productivity and recommend/ implement changes to improve work productivity.
- Cross train direct reports to maximize productivity and provide coverage of all functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
External Qualifications
Preferred: Previous SAP experience/exposure and/or a Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Business.
