Operations Analyst
Position Description
1. Researches federal laws, regulations, directives, policies, and procedures;
2. Conducts analysis of personnel security operational and administrative support processes;
3. Makes recommendations for program changes/improvements;
4. Develops PSD procedures and reviews and drafts ATF policies;
5. Works independently, and at times, with other PSD staff members to gather and collect information needed to implement new and/or revised requirements;
6. Provides technical advice to staff members regarding studies, surveys, briefing papers, procedures, planning, coordination, program development, etc.;
7. Provides operational and administrative support to PSD’s Chief, branch chiefs, and team leaders while they oversee and execute the daily functions of the office;
8. Reviews new/revised policies and procedures proposed by other offices; Identifies possible effects on PSD’s functions; and documents recommendations for implementation of the new/revised policies and procedures;
9. Conducts audits and reviews on Divisional program reports and correspondence, ensuring metrics and data provided is accurate;
10.Performs data analysis for the Division on timeliness metrics to ensure accuracy;
11.Prepares periodic and one-time reports on a wide range of issues regarding PSD’s operations, administrative functions, and other matters;
12.Proofreads and edits all finished work products prepared by other staff members thoroughly to ensure they are accurate, complete, clear, and concise; Meets editorial and government specifications; and Adheres to Bureau and PSD standards for quality, format, grammar, spelling, and style;
13.Provides feedback to others on document revisions in a tactful and diplomatic manner always; and Provides advice and mentoring to other PSD personnel where necessary;
14.Clarifies assignment instructions and program responsibilities with PSD personnel using well-developed verbal and listening skills;
15.Develops thorough and error-free personnel security reports, correspondence, and presentations using excellent writing skills, and with little or no guidance from Division personnel; and
16.Establishes style guidelines and standards for written documentation for use by all Division personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree (in a related technical field) or equivalent;
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related technical writing/editing and/or personnel security experience.
- Must be willing and able to commute to job location reliably
- Must be fully proficient in English, verbal and written
- Must be able to meet all minimum requirements identified by program manager as specified further throughout hiring process
Compensation
- Annual salary negotiable and commensurate with experience and training
