JOB TITLE:   AV Project Coordinator

JOB PURPOSE:   

This position works closely with the Classroom Technology Services team, other UWIT units, UW Procurement Services, and contracted vendors in the planning, design, integration, installation, testing, and support of AV presentation and conferencing systems in classrooms and other learning environments. Provide technical expertise in UW AV projects, with oversight of AV scope and the implementation of AV in construction projects for new classrooms. May serve as a primary point of contact for UW departments, vendors, trades and contractors for the design, consulting, implementation, and support of technology in learning spaces.  Additionally, will be responsible for AV technology project planning, financial tracking, and delivering projects within specifications while adhering to campus standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide specialized consulting services to UW units, help translate business requirements to AV needs, and note any infrastructure scope needed from others (e.g., electrical, network, etc.).
  • Determine appropriate technology solutions, assist with design, engineering, and budget estimates for UW AV projects, including creating and modifying designs, diagrams, and schematics of complex AV systems while adhering to UW AV standards.
  • Oversee all aspects of AV project life cycle including but not limited to: deliverables, day-to-day operational and budget aspects of project and scope; resolve or escalate issues, and facilitate team, user, and leadership communications.
  • Participate in planning efforts, construction meetings, conduct site visits, and provide ongoing coordination of AV-related elements between AV contractor, structured cable, and electrical contractor.
  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement and support requests with contracted vendors for department-supported learning environments.
  • Ensure job completion and customer satisfaction, including final punch lists, providing equipment accessories, and arranging for asset management of old equipment.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction and assist in ensuring the technology remains current, relevant, and supportable.
  • Provide Tier 3 troubleshooting and support including diagnosing equipment problems, reporting incidents, and following through until incidents and problems are resolved.
  • Maintain internal knowledge base of procedures for common requests/incidents, training guides, manuals, and how-to documents.
  • Maintain general equipment inventory and appropriate documentation as it relates to supported technology and spaces. Perform research for new technology, techniques and equipment.
  • Develop and coordinate appropriate training materials workshops regarding AV services and support.
  • Recommend future roadmaps for strategies and infrastructure for new instructional systems and technologies for teaching and learning environments.
  • Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • May perform backup duties of Manager, Instructional Technology.
  • Participate in the development of documentation to ensure efficient AV service and support, such as policies, procedures, and training manuals.
  • Help develop UW’s AV standards and procedures.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in technology-related field

Experience:  3 years of experience with classroom technology equipment is preferred

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: 

  • AVIXA CTS certification, or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire
  • Wyoming Low Voltage Technician license (LV-C, LV-S, or LV-T), or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Knowledge and experience with low-voltage work
  • Knowledge and experience with commercial AV technologies
