The Equity is an independent agriculture cooperative headquartered in Effingham, Illinois. Our trade territory includes 22 locations, covering central Illinois and southwest Indiana. We currently have over 500 employees. The Equity has five divisions including: Agronomy, Grain, Feed and Livestock, Energy and two Retail Stores. Additionally, we have two affiliate brands, a Precision Agronomy dealership and an agricultural spray drone sales and service company. About the Position
The Equity is seeking Agronomy interns who are pursuing a B.S. degree(s) at a four-year college/university with a major in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture Business, and related fields. Candidates should have strong communication skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail, think analytically, and work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with locations to carry out day-to-day operations
- Complete a research project, analyzing the results and present the findings
- Scout fields for weeds, insects, and disease
- Work with salesmen to learn about their careers
- Participate in weekly supervisor meetings, agronomy training sessions, field days, and Internship Development Program
- Build agronomy product knowledge regarding seed, pests, seed treatments, adjuvants, micronutrients, crop protection products, and fertilizers
- Obtain a CDL and other licensing as needed

Salary
$15-20/hours
Benefits Summary
- Eligible for 401k after age 21 and worked one year and 1,000 hours
- Steel toe boot reimbursement of $75 annually
- Paid Time for All after 90 days, earn 1 hour for 40 hours worked
- Eligible for Employee Hardship Fund after worked 1,000 hours
- Company apparel
Travel
The employee may be required to travel to other facilities in The Equity trade area.
