Position Summary: 

The Applications Administrator plays a crucial role in an organization by overseeing the implementation and upkeep of applications. They work closely with business users to create reliable solutions that fulfill business needs while reducing the need for end-user support. Additionally, Applications Administrators ensure compliance with corporate governance and IT General Controls (ITGCs) to maintain data security and integrity.  To succeed in this role, Applications Administrators must have a comprehensive understanding of implementation best practices, testing procedures, and technical documentation. They should possess strong problem-solving skills and be adept at troubleshooting and resolving application-related issues. Being proactive and able to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and timelines is essential. A successful Applications Administrator is not only knowledgeable but also a thought leader in their field. They actively seek out opportunities for learning and professional growth, staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies. By continually expanding their expertise, they can contribute valuable insights and recommendations to enhance application management processes within the organization. Overall, the Applications Administrator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of applications, effectively collaborating with stakeholders, and driving innovation and efficiency in application-related practices. 

Responsibilities: The Application Administrator has a wide range of responsibilities related to the implementation, maintenance, and support of applications within the organization. Here is an overview of the key responsibilities:

  • Application support: Provide Tier 2 and 3 application support to end users. This involves troubleshooting issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to minimize future occurrences. Future-proofing systems may involve identifying potential issues or risks and taking proactive measures to prevent them.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and diagnose application issues reported by end users. Analyze error logs, perform system monitoring, and conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve problems. Document troubleshooting steps and solutions for future reference.
  • User Management: Assist with user access management, including account creation, modification, and termination. Ensure appropriate user permissions and access controls are in place.
  • Application Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, patches, and configuration changes. Coordinate with the development team for bug fixes and enhancements. Keep applications up to date with the latest security standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of application configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines. Contribute to the knowledge base to facilitate efficient issue resolution and knowledge sharing.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with end users, colleagues, and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide status updates, and address any application-related concerns. Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Training and Support: Assist in providing training and support to end users on new or existing applications. Create user guides and conduct training sessions to promote effective utilization of applications.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and business users, to troubleshoot complex issues, implement enhancements, and ensure seamless integration with other systems.
  • IT General Controls (ITGCs) management: Maintain the framework for IT General Controls, including managing user access rights and change control policies. Ensure compliance with corporate governance and industry regulations by implementing appropriate controls and procedures.

These responsibilities require strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication and collaboration with business users, team members, and technology leadership. The Application Administrator should be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities concurrently.

Working Relationships: Applications Administrators regularly interact with the Director of Application Management, members of the Application Management team, and other roles within the IT department. The Applications Administrator will also work closely with business and technology partners to ensure process handoffs.


Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Related Discipline 

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Related Discipline 

Minimum Experience: 1 years of end user support or consulting experience within the application of experience

Preferred Experience: 3 years of end user support or consulting experience 

Licenses/Certifications: Microsoft Technology Associate, Infrastructure (ITIL) Foundations

Soft Skills: Strong communication and documentation skills, desire to learn, effective team member 

Hours & Conditions: 40 hrs. /week
