What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchaser/Buyer position at Egide USA?

SUMMARY AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

A pre-employment drug screening is required

Places purchase orders for routine stock purchases with suppliers from the approved vendor list in-line with corporate sourcing strategy. This is for both raw materials and/or MRO purchases.

Works with suppliers to achieve the best pricing/delivery.

Directs and coordinates the delivery activities of suppliers. Initiates, maintains and distributes vendor delivery reports to various departments within the organization.

Sends component RFQ’s to suppliers for any new customer RFQ and completes material costing in ERP for the appropriate component.

Maintains the purchasing quote database on a daily basis.

Responsible for management and negotiation of contracts for MRO, indirect materials e.g. chemicals used in plating, and general expense related items. Track purchase and receipt for invoicing reconciliation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains good company image and supplier relations through daily business contacts.
  • Confers with vendor to obtain product information such as pricing, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Communicates delivery schedule requirements with suppliers after purchase agreements/orders have been finalized.
  • Responsible for issuing the actual purchase order to the supplier and ensuring the appropriate documents relating to the purchase order are forwarded to the supplier in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a minimum four-week window of delivery information to identify potential scheduling problems. Ensure timely delivery from suppliers.
  • Solves minor problems.
  • Revises purchase orders with pricing, lead time, and revision level information.
  • Monitors supplier capacity to determine potential delivery schedule problems.
  • Develops alternative delivery plans based on supplier capacity and reports information to Director Procurement.
  • Verifies data relating to item numbers and purchase orders is correct in the purchasing and inventory systems.
  • Handles routine stock orders and places orders with suppliers who are currently on the approved vendor list.
  • Monitors and maintains supplier performance reports.
  • Corresponds tactfully with sources of supply to overcome any misunderstandings, complaints, etc. or secure further pertinent information regarding purchased material.
  • Performs miscellaneous assignments as required.
  • Completion of supplier surveys.,
  • Submits timely the necessary information to enable short turnaround times for customer RFQ’s in support of the customer service team
  • Maintain Purchasing Quote database.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities/important duties performed occasionally or in addition to the essential duties of the position as well as any additional comments relevant to the position.

  • Associates will occasionally assist in the training of other Associates.
  • Associates will occasionally be asked to work in other departments throughout the facility.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Bachelors degree or equivalent; four to ten years of purchasing experience; or equivalent of education and experience

  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups within the organization.
  • Ability to formulate reports and author business correspondences and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of MRP and materials related systems.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical methods and problem solving methods.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
