Social Worker and/or Counselor

Job Summary:
Eighth Avenue Place is a religious non-profit with over 16 years of service to the Steel Valley (Munhall, Homestead, and West Homestead). In 2022, we transitioned from being a United Methodist Church into a non-profit that focuses on mental health and substance misuse care. We offer a truly unique experience in that we run a community “coffee house” and many who attend have a lived experience of mental illness and substance misuse. We recently opened a counseling center adjacent to the coffee house and we offer a mobile therapy component for the 15120 zip-code (Steel Valley). It is our vision to offer quality and contextual therapeutic services for those often disillusioned with institutional mental health/substance misuse services.We are open to discussing quarter time, part time and possibly full time pay. Supervision hours are also available for those seeking licensure (LCSW).

Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' social, emotional, and financial needs
- Develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings
- Provide counseling and support to clients dealing with addiction issues
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to help clients set goals and make positive changes
- Connect clients with community resources in Allegheny County
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as healthcare providers and educators, to ensure holistic care for clients
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed

-Spend time in the coffee house building relationships

Experience:
- Master's degree in Social Work or related field (Counseling)

-LSW or going for licensure, LCSW or going for licensure, or LPC
- Previous experience in social work or a related field preferred
- Familiarity with community resources and services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds

-Familiarity with Christianity and other faith traditions

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
