Who You Are
The Director of Product Management will lead product development efforts at Eikon and will report initially to the CTO. A successful candidate is someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment, is results-oriented, with strong attention to detail, and is always motivated to deliver excellence in their work. This role will oversee Eikon’s product management efforts by developing and delivering a fully integrated marketing strategy for the business. The position will largely focus on specifying requirements and use cases for novel products that we intend to sell into new markets. This includes collecting, assessing, and prioritizing market requirements and use cases, while working closely with Development to deliver market-leading products and sales to drive successful product launches.
What You'll Do
- Establish the product management function within Eikon
- Hire a small team and provide coaching, training, and opportunities to develop skills
- Develop detailed product & marketing strategies and roadmap for Eikon’s hardware, consumables, and software products
- Work with customers to generate product requirements and effectively communicate these requirements to the development teams
- Assist the business development team with assessing partnership opportunities
- Perform competitive and market analysis
- Develop and present business plans that include opportunity assessment, positioning strategy, and financial analysis
- Work with key stakeholders to flesh out product value propositions, positioning, and pricing
- Plan, lead, and execute successful product launches
- Establish contracts with key customers and beta sites
Qualifications:
- Degree in molecular biology, engineering or associated scientific field required. Ph.D., MBA or other advanced degree desirable, but not required
- Track record of success defining and launching multiple innovative products
- 7 years of relevant work experience in life science company or related field, ideally with > 5 years in product management marketing / product management positions
- Experience working in an innovative, entrepreneurial environment strongly preferred
- Experience across instrument, software, and consumable life science products, particularly in microscopy, strongly preferred
- Proven ability to influence cross functional teams without formal authority, and to work effectively with customers, development, and field teams
- Experience with Agile software development process with working knowledge of JIRA preferred
- Outstanding leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
- Must have an excellent work ethic, exceptional judgment, and unquestionable integrity
- Self-starter with the ability to act and operate independently
- Hands on, high energy, and highly responsive
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- Natural curiosity to take on new challenges and responsibilities
- Experience in a regulated environment a plus
