RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports strategic initiatives on the Mexican Foods platform – Salsa, Sauces and Foods.
- Has responsibility for developing annual category perspective presentations, analyzing business issues, and providing business insights and recommendations to drive business results utilizing a variety of syndicated and internal data. The category perspective presentation is the comprehensive vision for the upcoming calendar year on best in class assortment, shelving, pricing, promotion, merchandising, ecomm, digital, and marketing to support effective sales strategy execution with our retail partners.
- The Senior Category Development Analyst (SCDA) will work closely with the brand team to provide category-based business perspective into the business decision making process.
- The SCDA performs periodic assortment analysis using Nielsen ASO and IRi to define category-based assortment strategies i.e. shelving space optimization, trend identification, SKU rationalization, and perfect assortment execution to maximize performance.
- The SCDA develops, updates, and communicates best in class shelving strategy for their category of responsibility leveraging qualitative and quantitative studies, consumer decision trees, and segment adjacency insights.
- Provides periodic reports to include but not limited to:
- Performance Monitoring i.e. market share, sales change, pricing, innovation, and panel buyer trends across the category
- Assortment Optimization - incrementality, volume transfer, getting the right products in the right store shelved right
- Strategic Shelving (Category Growth Strategies)
- Modular tests & new strategies
- Pricing Optimization i.e. gap to key competitor
- Promotion Optimization
- Ad-hoc reporting based on issues discovered in the periodic reports that dig deep into markets and products issues with forward looking action steps.
- Collaborates with other members of the Sales Strategy Team by providing market, category, customer, brand, competitive activity, and industry knowledge during the development of the annual volume and trade plan.
- Provide leadership to Category Analysts and assist in their training. For example, the incumbent will share knowledge in Excel, IRi POS/Panel, SRAI, Numerator, and general category management best practice guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1 year of sales/marketing/analytics experience.
- A pattern of initiative.
- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects.
- Well-developed interpersonal, organizational skills and analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Capacity to work independently/absent direct supervision.
- Strong ability to present to and negotiate with the customer.
- Proficient in working with IRi data.
- Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Preferred
- Has strong knowledge of Assortment and Shelving Strategy.
- Proficient in working with loyalty card data.
- Successful completion of all 3 phases of PDP training.
