RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Has responsibility for developing an annual category perspective presentation, analyzing business issues, and providing business insights and recommendations in the areas of assortment, shelf presentation to drive business results utilizing a variety of syndicated and internal data.
- The category perspective presentation is CPS’s comprehensive vision (for their category of responsibility) in the upcoming calendar year. It includes our category perspectives on best-in-class assortment, shelving, pricing, promotion, merchandising, eCom, digital, marketing, etc. to be used by category management, sales analytics and the sales teams.
- The Senior CDA perform periodic assortment analysis using Nielsen ASO, customer loyalty data, and IRi to define category base assortment strategies (i.e., SKU rationalization or distribution optimization) to optimize performance and in-market distribution of our most productive SKUs.
- The Senior CDA develops, updates, and communicates CPS best in class shelving strategy for their category of responsibility in the form of a STRAT O GRAM
- Provides periodic reports to include but not limited to:
- Performance Monitoring i.e. market share, sales change, pricing that include key competitors in ROM
- Assortment Optimization - incrementality, volume transfer, getting the right products in the right store on the right shelf in the right place
- Strategic Shelving (CGS)
- Modular tests & new strategies
- Shopper based metrics utilizing customer loyalty card data.
- Pricing Optimization (i.e. gap to key competitor)
- Promotion Optimization
- Utilizing customer-specific eCommerce data to develop reports and insights on sales and customer engagement online
- Ad-hoc reporting based on issues discovered in the periodic reports that dig deep into markets and products issues with solid recommendations.
- Collaborates with other members of the Sales Strategy Team by providing market, category, customer, brand, pricing study insights, competitive activity, and industry knowledge during the development of the annual volume and trade plan.
- Works with and supports the sales team to become an expert in the categories they represent and find pain points and insights to develop a strategy against them.
- Provide leadership to less experienced Category Development Analysts and assist in their training. For example, the incumbent will share knowledge in Excel, IRi POS/Panel, SRAI, Numerator and general category management best practice guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 5-7years of sales/marketing/analytics experience.
- A pattern of initiative.
- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects.
- Well-developed interpersonal, organizational skills and analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to present to and negotiate with the customer.
- Proficient in working with IRi data.
- Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Preferred
- Has strong knowledge of Assortment and Shelving Strategy.
- Proficient in working with loyalty card data.
- Has completed 18 months in current position.
