This position is located at the El Paso County Fair and Events Center in Calhan.
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications
Provides support to the El Paso County Fairgrounds to include event setup, coverage, and clean-up, grounds maintenance, janitorial services, and equipment operation. Performs labor and event related tasks for successful operation of the Fairgrounds.
- Under the general supervision, performs semi-skilled labor and event support tasks to include event preparation, event coverage, event clean-up, grounds maintenance, facility maintenance and cleaning, janitorial services, equipment operation, and trash collection.
- Performs labor and event support tasks as required for successful operation of the Fairgrounds to include the use and operation of specialized vehicles, equipment, and power tools.
- Drives County vehicles and other equipment to perform assigned duties; operates all County vehicles and equipment per County guidelines.
- Provides departmental support for special events and other activities as assigned.
- Provides direction, establishes priorities, and upholds service standards for respective volunteers, seasonal, and temporary staff.
- Effectively communicates operational and event support needs.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Basic knowledge of event support, grounds maintenance, facility maintenance, equipment operation, hand and power tools, painting, plumbing, and minor electrical repairs.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments in a safe and proper manner.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with County Staff, volunteers, community organizations, facility rental permit holders, and the public.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work in all types of weather.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement. Must be organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, drug screen, and physical examination.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.
Work is performed both indoors and outside at the County Fairgrounds and other event locations in various weather conditions. Requires physical effort to perform frequent lifting, bending, and climbing. Must be able to safely lift and carry up to fifty (50) lbs.. Physical hazards may be present when mixing or working with chemicals, power tools, and motorized equipment. Position requires evening, weekend, and holiday hours. This is a temporary position typically not to exceed five (5) months.
