Job Description
Scope:
The Staff Test Engineer researches, plans, designs, develops, analyzes and tests a variety of electronic and optical equipment and systems, including displays, sensors, processors, interface units and other electronic devices; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Perform design activities as assigned by supervisor.
- Produce test system and circuit card schematics.
- Design, automate, and run test equipment used for design and qualification validation testing.
- Design, automate, and maintain test equipment and systems for manufacturing product validation
- Participate in design reviews.
- Participate in proposal development.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Consult vendors on components and make final component selections
- Investigate and select subassemblies and COTS equipment for incorporation into designs
- May interface directly with Program Management
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated DOD Clearance at the Secret level.
- BS with 14 years’ experience (or MS with 12 years’) in test automation design and development including software programing and hardware development for RF, digital, and mixed signal testing.
- Experience in environmental and electrical product qualification.
- Proficient in at minimum 1 software programming language, includes NI LabView.
- Willingness to take initiative.
- Provide thorough, accurate information to answer customers’ questions and to meet commitment times or performance guarantees.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and improve in all areas.
- Observe and evaluate the outcomes of implementing the solution to assess the need for alternative approaches
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- TestStand Scripting using LabVIEW and C/CVI/C /.Net DLLs.
- C/C /C# programing experience.
- Electronic design experience
- Visual Basic 6
- Database design, implementation, and SQL programming
- Knowledge of the defense and military industry with some specific knowledge about the customer base for the assigned product.
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering preferred.
