Eldon C. Stutsman, Inc. is located in Hills, Iowa - a short 10-minute drive south of Iowa City. We are hiring for an experienced and self-motivated Senior Accountant.
Position: Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant provides management with financial information through performing accounting transactions, account reconciliations, and preparing financial statements with appropriate analytics. Dual activities include regular monthly and transactional activities as well as varied and complex work. A comprehensive understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles is required.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
- Prepares financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system.
- Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts.
- Adherence to GAAP in all book accounting activities.
- Adherence to IRS tax code in all tax accounting activities.
- Adherence to internal accounting policies and procedures and making appropriate recommendation for changes.
- Prepares analytics and answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Performs all month end duties timely and accurately in order to ensure accurate financial and management reporting.
- Assists in coordinating information compiled and/or analyzed by others in order to hit critical deadlines.
- Assists in the training of less experienced team members.
- Maintain clean, safe working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Senior Accountant Essential Skills:
- BA or BS degree in Accounting or Finance, with the necessary knowledge and skills in accounting systems, business organization and management, statistics, macroeconomics, etc.
- 5 years related experience and/or training.
- CPA, CMA, MBA a plus but not required.
- A strong self-starting individual with tenacity, a sense of purpose, and a resourceful and collaborative attitude.
- A very strong track record of seeking out and successfully completing projects, digging to determine root causes and finding solutions, and serving as a collaborative business partner with other functional areas.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and technical background.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for dealing with all levels within the organization.
- Ability to perform advanced excel functions such as pivot tables, filters, sorting, complex formulas, and graphs in ways that achieve high degrees of efficiency and effectiveness.
- Visual acuity to perform activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures.
- Pass pre-employment background investigations.
Working Conditions:
- Sitting most of the time with walking and standing required only some of the time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
