JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager manages administrative and functional areas or programs within the Nursing Department. Assists the Director of nursing in overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with company policies and standards of nursing practices and government regulations, to ensure that quality resident care is delivered in an efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / PRIMARY DUTIES
Carry out, coordinate, or manage functions and areas or programs related to Nursing Services which may include departmental documentation, medical records, nursing. supplies, ancillary supplies or services, quality assurance, infection control program, skin care program, Medicare, medication programs, alternative duty, safety program, staff scheduling, training, and orientation.
Works with and supports the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and CCM in planning all aspects of nursing services to include interface with other disciplines and departments.
Assists the Director of Nursing in managing nursing care to include monitoring quality of care and resident activity, assessing resident’s status, administering medication and treatments, admissions and discharges, and consultation with family members, physicians, and other health care professionals.
Fills in as acting Director of nursing, Charge Nurse, or other nursing positions as needed with limited authority as appropriate.
Ensures compliance with State, Federal and company quality assurance standards, including alerting management to potential non-compliance issues.
Develops positive relationships on behalf of the company with Government Regulators, families, area health care community and the community at large.
Ensures understanding of, and compliance with, all rules regarding residents’ rights.
Supervises, conducts, and participates in department and facility education activities and staff meetings.
EDUCATION
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State.
EXPERIENCE
Must be able to relate positively to residents and families and work cooperatively with other employees.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
Must have related experience at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
Must be capable of performing the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
