JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates the production and maintenance of tooling, fixtures, dies and die components (tooling). Directs the activities of Tool and Die making departments from purchased materials and services to completion work within the facilities internal departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise employees in the Tool Crib, Precision Machine, and EDM areas.

All job duties and responsibilities require collaboration with other departments and/or team members.

Interfaces with the Extrusion and Quality Departments for the approval of all die submissions for new products and changes to existing products to ensure company standards.

Order and track purchased materials and services to make certain they are available and meet quality and engineering standards. Materials may include tooling, materials, die blanks, and hardware.

Prioritize projects and tool requirements with feedback from Production Supervisors and Engineering.

Sub-Contract tooling, dies, and fixtures when ability or capacity is a concern.

Aid in product research and development projects.

Look for opportunities to modernize current tools, processes, and equipment.

Assist with the evaluation of new machinery.

Proactively identify alternative tools, materials, and suppliers to drives cost savings and manufacturing improvements.

Provide manufacturing support to shop supervisors and hourly workers. Ensures the performance and quality of die components conform to established company standards.

Ensures the maintenance, inspection, and testing of equipment and procedures for renewal and repairs of tooling to ensure readiness.

Assists in the design or redesign/improvement of such equipment.

Standardizes department operations and planning activities.

Maintains an up-to-date knowledge in the techniques of tool fabrication products and process technologies.

Responsible for ensuring that employees follow all company guidelines related to health, Safety and Environmental practices.

Develops and implements training and evaluates skill levels and development of Die Maintenance, CMM, and CNC employees.

Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

10 Years of Tool and Die experience, with 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Associate Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints required.

Experience operating wire and Ram EDM required.

Knowledge related to electrode design.

Prior experience using engineering design software is a plus.

Tool design experience in the following categories would be a plus: CNC fixtures, metal extrusion, cold drawing, broaching, punching, stamping, and forging.

CNC Programming and machining experience is preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in technical matters.

Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
