Power Systems Engineer NERC (US/Canada) N-013

Position Overview:

This position will have specific emphasis placed on conducting technical studies for NERC FAC, PRC, and MOD Reliability Standards and requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

1. Perform PSSE studies: 
2. Ability to perform onsite/remote NERC compliance testing for conventional and renewable generators
3. Perform high level bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSS/e, PSCAD, Aspen, and PSLF.

1. Conduct engineering studies for new and emerging technologies such as inverters, wind turbines, or Bulk Energy Storage Systems, which may require interaction with equipment vendors to complete the analyses.
2. Process, generate and maintain data as required for other engineering related studies.
3. Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
4. Identify training needs and present to the Senior Manager of NERC Compliance.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Engineer I,  II & III

• Ability to provide on the job training or help oversee the work of other Power Systems Engineers and Interns.
• Execute on multiple tasks at any given time.
• Perform complex tasks according to good engineering practice and EPE procedures.
• Capable of autonomously and independently executing on assigned tasks.
• Participate in multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments and perform studies.
• Assist in developing tools, processes and procedures that enhance engineering study completion.

Qualifications & Skills:

1. Proven team player skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
2. Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
3. Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
4. Capable of managing multiple tasks.
5. Flexible with the ability to manage change.
6. Have high standards on producing quality reports and products that he/she shall own with pride.
7. Strong technical/report writing skills.

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.
