The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a leading nonprofit organization defending online privacy and free expression, is looking for a full-time social media and video manager to join our Activism team.

The Social Media and Video Manager leads EFF’s social media strategy and video creation, and analyzes, guides, and develops EFF’s presence on online platforms. This position is part of a highly cross-disciplinary Activism team, and will collaborate regularly with our organizing, legal, and technologist colleagues. We value candidates who bring diverse experiences and perspectives, professional and otherwise, to our team and to EFF as a whole. If you can add value to EFF’s Activism team, please apply.

What You’ll Do

  • Developing and maintaining an active EFF social media presence on relevant platforms by ensuring social media postings are timely, engaging, in the “EFF voice”, reflective of our positions, and appropriately reviewed.

  • Experience developing content for a broad cultural, diverse and multigenerational audience.
  • Able to understand and succinctly articulate complex and nuanced technology policy issues, including basic ability to understand various technology, legislation, and court cases around digital liberties.

If you were here right now, you would be:

  • Reading the EFF blog posts published in the last week, then developing creative ways to share these posts with new audiences on social media platforms.
  • Digging into weekly statistics on blog readership, social media pick-up, and relevant news stories to determine where EFF should devote resources to creating videos and other social media posts.
  • Collaborating with the activism, legal, or public interest technology team to draft a video script describing a new blog, then partnering with the design team to record, edit, and post this video to appropriate platforms.
  • Reviewing evergreen EFF material such as legal cases, projects, and blog posts, and strategizing new ways to share this work across social media.
  • Partnering with the press team to translate EFF’s response to breaking news stories into a series of social media posts.
