- Element2 is seeking a skilled and experienced Blasting Technician to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for executing precision drilling and controlled blasting operations to achieve project goals safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drilling and blasting techniques, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities:
Drilling Operations:
- Operate drilling equipment to bore holes into rock formations according to project specifications.
- Select and install appropriate drill bits and drilling equipment based on rock type and project requirements.
- Ensure accurate drilling depths and hole diameters, following engineering plans and blueprints.
Blasting Operations:
- Prepare blast sites by placing explosives and ensuring proper stemming and tamping techniques.
- Calculate and measure blast patterns, considering rock type, fragmentation requirements, and safety regulations.
- Initiate blasts using safe and efficient methods, ensuring minimal environmental impact and adhering to safety protocols.
Safety and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce safety procedures, ensuring all team members follow industry best practices and regulations.
- Monitor environmental factors, such as vibration and air overpressure, to minimize impact on surrounding areas.
- Collaborate with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to drilling and blasting operations.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of drilling and blasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Identify and report any equipment issues, recommending repairs or replacements as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in drilling and blasting operations, with a minimum of 1 year in the field.
- Knowledge of various drilling techniques, explosives, and blasting methods.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards related to drilling and blasting activities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging outdoor environments.
- Relevant certifications in drilling and blasting techniques are a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
