Job Description
**This position will require working at one of our offices: West Bend, WI, Madison, WI or Waukesha, WI. A hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office/2 days at home is also acceptable.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Responsible and accountable for the assessment and direction of technology to meet Commercial Enterprise system requirements. Guides logical and physical system designs. Assesses current and future state architectures for fit with accepted standards. Evaluates and selects from existing and emerging technologies to best fit business and project needs. Defines the appropriate technical platform required to provide business capabilities.
Works as part of a system-wide, cross-functional team. May work with Solution Architects to develop architectural position statements and work to achieve buy in to vision and recommendations with enterprise architectural guild. Likewise, may participate in reviewing architectural positions of other architects to promote consistency and synergy across enterprise applications and frameworks. Helps to plan and manage implementation and integration of new technologies.
Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to the development team. Demonstrates the ability to work with teams on designing and orchestrating multiple solutions and technologies to work together to achieve capabilities required across the enterprise.

Projects Currently in Roadmap that this role would be involved in:
Underwriting Portal/Underwriting Workbench – A “one stop shop” for Commercial Underwriters to streamline workflow and increase efficiency. This initiative also includes decoupling multiple services and capabilities from the Policy Administration System to allow Underwriting leadership to manage eligibility and appetite rules through tooling vs. IT development requests
Headless API for Commercial Quoting – A headless API to enable third-party quoting on behalf of company. The API allows our insurance to be quoted alongside multiple carriers, enhancing Agent experience. Agents are able to eliminate duplicative data entry steps, while streamlining their access to multiple quotes across multiple carriers
Data Democratization – Work with Data Architects and Engineers to evolve approach to managing data for the Commercial Enterprise increasing data accessibility, literacy, fluency and quality.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Six or more years of related experience
- Experience with cloud native back-end development
- Experience with Portal platforms and modern front-end development
- Experience developing solutions using microservice principles
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, debugging and unit testing skills
- Effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical roles
- Experience directing solution delivery with a team
- Experience mentoring and coaching junior developers
- Experience with .NET and SQL is a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Azure App Service, APIM and Service Bus is a plus
- Experience with ReactJS framework is a plus
- Experience with the Duck Creek Policy Administration System is a plus
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment is a plus
Salary : $130,000 - $145,000
