GENERAL SUMMARY Along with set duties, supervisors and cooks take on the responsibility of directing kitchen staff to assure all meals are served properly following pre-set guidelines and food safety standards. Knowledge of consistency requirements for a health care setting is a plus as is a food safety certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Each supervisor and cook must consistently demonstrate the following essential functions:
- Strong personnel management skills including disciplinary action as necessary.
- Prepare and/or assist as needed in the preparation of high quality food for residents and guests using proper techniques in accordance with operational standards.
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, efficiency, and organization of the kitchen areas by adhering to the guidelines and policies of the New York State Health Department and facility policies and procedures.
- Promote teamwork among staff to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and resident satisfaction.
- Perform administrative functions to support the day-to-day meal service operation.
- Perform extra responsibilities as needed and/or directed.
