Primary Purpose: Provide teachers with appropriate learning activities and coaching experience in core academic area.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from accredited university, Master's degree preferred in C & I or other educational field Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of core academic subject assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience: Three years teaching experience minimum Supervisory experience preferred
Planning Coordinate TEKS and STAAR alignment by vertical and grade level teams. Attend vertical and grade level team meetings to plan instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies. Attend Blueprint instructional coach meetings. Assist with modifications of instructional materials to meet student needs. Assist with curriculum development and alignment, academic diagnosis, and program evaluations. Assist teachers with lesson plans and effective implementation/delivery of the Instructional Planning Guides. Ensure that all teachers have the materials necessary to deliver the instructional program effectively. Coordinate the planning of Family Nights. Meet regularly with grade level teams to support curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Staff Development Plan, coordinate, and deliver campus staff development sessions based on the TEKS, STAAR, and identified staff needs - include parents when appropriate. Disseminate information (articles) on current trends and research.
Teacher Support Conduct demonstration lessons. Provide informal verbal and written feedback to teachers regarding instruction and student learning. Assist new teachers to EISD (and others as needed) with integration of the Principles of Learning into daily instruction. Monitor work displays and bulletin boards to ensure that quality rigorous student work is the norm.
Resources Ensure that teachers have the resources necessary to effectively deliver the instructional program. Gather and organize materials for during and after school extended day tutorials. Monitor assessment data so that materials used are appropriate to student needs. Assist the Principal with the annual inventory and the dissemination of resources to teachers. Suggest additional resources (such as Bulletin Board Math) to enhance instruction. Suggest directly to teachers web sites that promote teacher growth in instruction.
Assessment Coordinate benchmark testing with the Principals and Technology Specialist. Plan and coordinate implementation of STAAR intervention strategies as needed. Analyze data (STAAR and benchmarks) to assist teachers in planning instruction. Develop, analyze, and provide regular review of campus, classroom, and student profiles.
Tutorials/Interventions Identify students needing intervention based on benchmark assessments, informal observation, and teacher referral. Provide direct academic support to students via tutorials during the day and after school.
