Eliot's Emergency Residence in New Bedford, supporting latency age children (infancy to 12 years old) referred by the Department of Children and Families, is seeking an assistant program director with five years of experience working with the population. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to establish a positive rapport with a culturally and economically diverse group of children and families and to deliver services within the established trauma informed and strengths-based framework and clinical model.
Eliot’s Social Services Division includes short-term community-based assessment, stabilization and support programs (Emergency Residence) for latency age children (birth to 12 years old). The programs are contracted with the Department of Children and Families and provide a safe, structured, and respectful environment for children and youth to thrive, change and grow by focusing on treatment, skill-building, and permanency.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day to day operations of the program in accordance with the program, contract, DCF, DEEC and ECHS policies.
- Responsible for the scheduling of all staff and program activities.
- Responsible for fiscal oversight as directed.
- Responsible for supervision of staff as assigned.
- Facilitate and attend as directed, all meetings associated with the operation of the program, including administrative, staff, shift change, and treatment team meetings.
- Serve as a member of the administrative team and the on-call rotation.
- Assist in the hiring, counsel, discipline, and discharge of staff subject to the approval of the Vice President of Human Resources.
- Facilitate and participate in orientation, training, and development opportunities for staff.
- Submit timely and accurate employee supervision documentation and performance evaluations.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in related field with at least five years of related experience required.
- Knowledge of population.
- Knowledge and experience with regulatory requirements regarding clinical and behavioral treatment of individuals.
- Demonstrates organizational and supervisory skills.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and effective, solution focused, problem solving skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with residents, staff, co-workers, and supervisor. A
- Ability to physically carry out Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques.
