Position Description: The Construction Superintendent supervises the field construction, organization, planning, and scheduling of commercial construction projects in order to complete the work on time, within budget, and to quality specified. The Superintendent leads, directs and coordinates the work of subcontractors and/or Elite trade labor while ensuring all applicable OSHA, WISHA, Elite internal standards, and safety standards are adhered to. The Superintendent has management responsibility for trade labor and subcontractors in his/her area of responsibility.

Essential Duties & responsibilities:
- Manage and make decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
- Examine and understand the contract drawings, specs, and addenda for design deficiencies, impractical details and possible code violations.
- Ensure all required permits or licenses have been obtained.
- Create detailed and accurate daily reports including receiving and reviewing Subcontractor’s Daily Report of work done and labor and material employed.
- Review, update, and approve, on a weekly basis (or as needed), all as-built drawings and project documents.
- Respond to subcontractor requests for field issues that impact budget, quality, or schedule etc. Coordinates/Communicates this effort with Elite project management.
- Oversee work among assigned trades to promote a coordinated and efficient project construction operation.
- Resolve local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment schedule, and all other appropriate matters.
- Manage the site safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with company standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
- Create and update schedules and determine sequencing of work in conjunction with Elite project management, trade labor, and Subcontractors.
- Develop and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
- Communicate with owners and architects/engineers in connection with field issues. Investigate and resolve such issues.
- Participation in billing process as it relates to Work-in-Progress (WIP) and generate the monthly (or as requested) estimate of work completed.
- Scrutinize the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
- Inspect all work in progress or completed, taking appropriate corrective standards, and calling for required inspections by proper authorities at the required stages.
- Mentor, supervise and develop Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and/or Interns, as assigned, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.
- Lead, supervise and develop Superintendents and other staff, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.
- Monitor and report on team members’ attendance and adherence to company policies.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all company and client information.
Minimum Requirements:
- 10 years’ experience as a Construction Superintendent or progressive leadership positions within the construction industry
- Ability to interpret and build complex commercial projects according to architectural drawings, specifications, and other documents
- Must be able to understand labor, material, and subcontract costs and the ability to analyze reports to effectively manage projects
- Proficient at taking and uploading digital photographs
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and to operate heavy equipment
- Proficient with Acrobat, Bluebeam, MS Project, MS Office 365, Word, and Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to safely operate power tools is required
The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
- Multifamily, Commercial, Healthcare, and Public Works experience is preferred
- Experience with Viewpoint or other project management software preferred
- OSHA 30 training
- CPR/AED Certificate
- Strong background in construction with craft trade skills
Other requirements:
- Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship
- Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening
- Possess a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
Salary Range
Salary: $96,648 minimum to $114,820 midpoint, $127,986 superior candidate
Typically, candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on applicable experience, qualifications, and alignment with preferred skills.
