Optometric Technician Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary testing, document chief complaint, update health history including medications, medication allergies, and family history, etc.
- Enter lensometry readings, current contact lens prescription, vitals, and VA results, etc.
- Perform special testing as ordered by the doctor (HVF, OCT, pachymetry, Optomap, topography, autorefraction, Amsler grid, color testing, SPOT testing, InfantSee testing, stereo testing, IOP,etc.).
- Chair-side assistance as needed.
- Perform dilations and Contact Lens Insert and Removal training.
- Complete patient check-out procedures, including patient invoicing, collecting copays, ordering contacts, and scheduling follow-ups.
- Maintain correspondence with other medical offices, scheduling referrals and consults, as well as providing reports for patients with applicable medical conditions.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of exam rooms, pre-testing room, and all equipment.
- Maintain and order supplies necessary and keep exam rooms fully stocked with pens, business cards, drops, rebates, etc.
- Prepare and shut down rooms daily.
- Perform monthly backups on equipment as necessary.
- Provide backup for answering incoming phone calls and optical dispenses as needed.
- Direct patients by walking them as needed to optical or restroom.
- Provide other duties within your department as well as others as needed.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 34 per week
