What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sandblaster position at Elite Metal Finishing, LLC?
Elite Metal Finishing LLC is a leading provider in Chemical Processing/Plating, Painting, Non-Destructive Testing, and Parts Marking to a wide base of Commercial, Military and Aerospace companies.
We currently have an entry level opening for a Sand Blaster in our production shop. Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Blasting of metal parts with aluminum oxide or glass bead to remove mil scale & oils providing a clean surface for coatings.
- Prepares surfaces using blast equipment utilizing knowledge of the materials, tools and fixtures used in the process.
- Loads blaster tank with abrasive materials.
- Adjusts regulation of air from compressor, varies concentration of grit to obtain required surface finish.
- Inspects and maintains equipment for compliance with safety requirements.
- Corrects any safety issue prior to operating the equipment.
- Cleaning and maintaining the blast booth.
- Utilize and maintain all personal protective equipment in performance of assigned duties and tasks.
- Maintaining and cleaning filters as needed.
- Keeping tools and supplies in their designated areas
- Sweep floors, empty garbage, recycle cardboard & stack pallets around the blast booth area
- Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma, equivalency or similar work experience accepted
- One-year experience working in a sandblasting environment (preferred but not required)
- Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools and equipment, including sandblasting and pressure washing equipment
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to speak English
- Basic English reading skills
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Able to communicate and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere
- Maintain schedule and tasks despite interruptions
- Be able to take direct feedback on blasting performance and adjust as necessary
Required Qualification:
- Ability to work overtime as required
