REFERRAL COORDINATOR

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Our practice is dedicated to providing quality care to our patients, and we are looking for a compassionate and experienced Referral Specialist who wants to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and verifying all patient referrals and authorizations; providing excellent care, and collaborating effectively with all departments.
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant
- 2 years experience as a referral coordinator or background in Medical Office is preferred.
- Ability to comprehend and follow established office routines and policies.
- Understanding of insurance carrier’s plans and guidelines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD 10 codes a plus
- Comfort with computer usage
- EclinicalWorks EMR a plus
- US work authorization (Required)
Responsibilities and Duties
- Obtains and reviews authorizations requests and follows the referral processes. Utilize multiple computer programs to validate insurance eligibility and insurance requirements.
- Contacts insurance companies to verify benefits and obtain pre-certification and/or authorization when required.
- Accurately enters authorization and/or pre-certification information into th computer system and attaches authorization.
- Ensures appropriate feedback and follow-up with all authorization and/or pre-certification requests.
- Locates and refers patients to appropriate providers and/or facilities.
- Communicates efficiently and effectively with other providers’ offices, insurance companies, and patients.
- Serve as initial and ongoing point of contact for referring physicians and direct patients.
- Notify patients when the outgoing referral process is completed and enter appropriate documentation into the patient’s electronic medical chart.
- Responsible for all communicative referral information (i.e. faxes, emails, telephone calls)
- Processes and verifies new patient referrals in a timely manner.
- Document work processes as required in EclinicalWorks
- Provide follow up with 100% of physician referrals..
- Always act in a friendly manner toward all patients, family members, coworkers, and other internal or external customers.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Maintains regular consistent attendance, personal appearance, punctuality, and adherence to applicable health and safety procedures.
- Performs other work-related duties, as assigned by the Office Manager.
