ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH
ElitSwim Club (ES) seeks an energetic, motivated, and qualified individual for the position of Associate Head Coach. If you want to build your coaching career and get initiated in the world of performance swimming, then this is your place to be. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic and innovative swimming and team management approach. The Associate Head Coach will oversee the Senior groups, consisting of 40-60 swimmers directly coached by the hired individual.
This position reports directly to the ES Head Coach.
About ElitSwim Club
ElitSwim Club is a new non-profit 501(c)(3) USA Swimming affiliate Club.
Currently, the company includes two successful programs a) a year-round pre-competitive swim team since 2013 and b) an awarded swim lessons contract for the City of San Ramon, CA, since 2018. Offering swim lessons for all ages, performing an average of 12,000 lessons per season.
ElitSwim Club is a year-round competitive program that will provide opportunities for all swimmers from 6 years old intermediate to 18-year-old National & International swimmers.
We focus on training the whole athlete, including nutritional education, a mental approach to training and racing, dry land exercise (including injury prevention circuits and strength & conditioning routines), and a strong emphasis on technical proficiency in the water.
Our primary training facility is the Dougherty Valley Aquatic Center, and the secondary is the San Ramon Olympic Pool/Cal High, both located in San Ramon, CA
BASIC FUNCTIONS
- Promotes and encourages a positive, progressive, inclusive, supportive, and winning culture.
- Plan and conduct 3-4 hours per day of on-deck coaching, working with our Senior groups (ages 14 ), effectively coaching other age group levels, and setting a strong, positive, enthusiastic, and highly energetic tone for all age groups as needed.
- Assist Head Coach with planning seasonal practice and meet schedules.
- Reports directly to the Head Coach and collaborates closely to establish and implement the vision of ES's competitive team.
- Complies and ensures club compliance with USA Swimming and ES policies (background checks, membership, etc.).
- Oversees the maintenance of the updated team roster and all meet results.
- Ensures competitive swimmers are registered with USA Swimming and ensures ES operates in compliance with Pacific Swimming and USA Swimming, ES policy and procedures.
- Schedules with the Head Coach adequate pool space to run the team practice sessions, clinics, camps, events, and meets.
- Coordinate and develop group goals and curriculum.
- Maintain up-to-date performance reports on senior group athletes.
- Communicate effectively with parents, swimmers, and other coaches (email, phone, face-to-face).
- Maintenance of the ES website.
- Organization and submission of the swim meet entries under the direction of the Head Coach.
- Registration of swimmers under the direction of the Head Coach.
- Serves as Team Administrator for the USA Swimming SWIMS3.0 system, ensuring that all swimmers, coaching staff, and board members are in good standing.
- Attend all scheduled swim meets, meetings, and team functions as required.
- Assist with team tryouts and swimmer assessments for group placement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
- Represent the Club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow-through and response.
- Assist swimmers in researching and understanding potential collegiate swimming opportunities; and provide individualized written and/or verbal recommendations as requested and appropriate.
- Complete meet entries and registrations on time and accurately; meet with assistant coaches and swimmers to ensure swimmers are swimming a variety of events at meets; attend and coach all meets.
- Complete all other duties and projects as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years successful experience as a Head Coach, Head/Lead Age Group Coach, or Age Group Coach with a USA Swimming team is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Demonstrated proficiency with SWIMS3.0, Meet Manager, Team Manager,
- Current CPR, First Aid, Coaches Safety, and Safe Sport certifications and membership in good standing with USA Swimming.
Additional Information
Preferred start date: April 2023. The position will remain open until filled.

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience.
Classification: Exempt
Work Schedule: Full-time position. Schedule with vary based on season and business needs. This position description is not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned.
