MAINTENANCE WORKER- PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT


The Maintenance Worker position is under the general supervision of a Public Works Foreman. The position performs operation, maintenance, and repair activities for the Village’s infrastructure to enhance the quality of life in our exceptional community. The position performs various Public Works activities within the operational areas of streets, traffic, land and forestry, water distribution, and sanitary and storm sewer systems. The position performs tasks in response to emergency overtime situations, including snow and ice control.

Minimum Qualifications:


This position is physically demanding and requires semi-skilled manual labor and the operation of various light and heavy-duty equipment. Working knowledge and experience in Public Works activities; skill in operating power tools and equipment; and effective communication skills. Candidates must exhibit a passion for public service and a willingness to work overtime and respond to off-hour emergencies. Candidate must be a high school graduate or have a GED.

License and Certification Requirements


Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker and air brake endorsements or to obtain licenses within six (6) months of employment.

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, plus emergency overtime as needed. Alternating weekend standby assignments is required.

HOURS OF WORK: 40 Hours/Week STARTING WAGE: $28.75- $41.35 DOQ
