Major Responsibilities
- Implement state essential learning and district designated/approved standards
- Informs students of their progress in terms of objectives set for the lesson or study course, handles student discipline and attendance problems.
- Evaluates in terms of planned goals and revises instruction as a result of the evaluation, makes long and short range plans for each subject area of instruction
- Provides for individual differences in the learning needs of students, provides a classroom climate which is based upon mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency
- Interacts positively with students, professional associates, parents and patrons of the school district
- Participates in staff development activities
- Performs job related, non-teaching duties
- Participates as a team member in planning curriculum, instruction and procedures
- Provide guidance and supervise instructional aides if so assigned.
- K-8 endorsement with music emphasis or training. Music endorsement helpful. Expertise in vocal and instrumental instruction. Knowledge of State standards and ability to develop curriculum helpful. Demonstrated ability to engage elementary-age students. Ability to plan and direct performances. Endorsement or training in ELL strategies, bilingual Spanish helpful.
- Responsible for the learning experience for students; demonstrates knowledge of subject matter demonstrates competency in instructional skills; informs student of their progress; handles discipline and attendance problems; evaluates in terms of planned goals and revises instruction because of the evaluation. Perform all assigned duties and responsibilities consistent with state regulations, district policies and procedures and building practices
- Valid Washington Teaching Certificate, K-8 Elementary Education endorsement & Music Endorsement. With elementary
- Elementary education subject content knowledge proficiency.
- Successful experience implementing G.L.A.D. and/or SIOP instructional strategies preferred, training helpful.
- Understanding of Whole Brain teaching strategies and successful incorporation into instructional delivery preferred.
- Understanding/Knowledge of 5D CEL Instructional Frameworks and ability to incorporate dimensions in daily teaching practices.
- Knowledge of/training in Safe & Civil Schools, PBIS, and /or CHAMPS programs preferred.
- Technology proficient or ability to gain proficiency to integrate technology into the instructional delivery.
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check
- A deep level of understanding of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts & EL
- A deep level of understanding of the English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills
- Evidence of strong written communication and presentation skills
- Evidence of strong planning and organizational skills
- Evidence of strong background in literacy and technology instruction
- Knowledgeable in the use of personal computers and web-based collaborative platforms and applications (i.e. Google classroom, etc.)
