- POSITION SUMMARY
- The Clinical Nurse Educator demonstrates expertise in a specialty area, through the provision of education and support, to guide quality patient care, professional growth and competence of the nursing staff.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements an assessment process to determine learning needs; utilize strategies that incorporate principles of adult learning to strengthen critical thinking and problem solving abilities of the learner.
- Creates and oversees the implementation of educational activities including in-services, competencies, orientation and continuing education materials.
- Evaluates outcomes of learning, identifying strategies for modification as appropriate.
- Supports lifelong learning by advising/mentoring nurses and nursing students as they pursue education and professional nursing advancement.
- Incorporates evidence-based learning into educational activities and practice.
- Facilitates optimal patient outcomes through education & consultation at the bedside.
- Collaborates with nursing leadership and other health team members when responding to clinical practice issues.
- Participates in new product evaluation; recommends and evaluates new products designed to improve patient outcomes.
- Uses effective communication skills, supporting departmental and organizational goals and influencing change processes.
- Demonstrates leadership on a professional level, maintaining appropriate competencies and involvement in activities internal and external to the organization.
- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Ability to work independently and take initiative; good judgment and problem solving skills.
- Ability to apply principles of adult learning.
- Ability to search for, interpret, and utilize evidence.

- EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Master s degree or current enrollment in master s degree program, preferably in nursing education, required.
- Experience: Five (5) years clinical experience with a specialty focus preferred; teaching experience preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: Current license in the State of New Hampshire as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in area of specialty required within 24 months from date of hire.
- Software/Hardware: Experience in Microsoft Office required. Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
