Elliott Homes is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join its residential homebuilding company. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Finance is instrumental in driving growth and profitability through refined and expanded financing resources and enhanced processes, procedures, cost controls, reporting, and projections. The Director of Finance powerfully brings accountability and influences the proper change needed for The Elliott Companies to obtain its vision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Management:
- Create, maintain, and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting and finance departments, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving each department's goals and objective.
- Manage the finance and accounting personnel and operations of Elliott Homes and affiliated companies, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
- Ensure cost control practices are in place and adhered to by all.
- Communicate the culture and values of the company and empower team members to reach beyond their comfort zone.
- Contract review.
- Ensure all company assets are protected via comprehensive and cost-efficient corporate insurance coverages.
- Oversee all information technology initiatives, policies and procedures.
Executive Leadership:
- Create annual business plan trajectory for the company with monthly comparisons of budget to actual.
- Continually communicate expectations and needs to the operations for accountability toward obtaining it.
- Create necessary change needed to obtain business plan and company goals.
- Obtain financial resources and credit facilities needed to obtain company goals.
- Ensure company risk is minimized and management remains focused on KPI’s.
- Take ownership over the current status and the future of The Elliott Companies by acting as an accountability partner to the COO and CEO. NOT A YES PERSON.
- Send banks a quarterly CEO’s report of the trends, financials, health and goals of Elliott Companies.
- Pro forma’s for opportunities, expansion and growth.
- Land Committee – Approve land purchases on the land committee. As well as obtain financing for land development projects..
- #1 liaison with lenders and banking relationships.
Transactions:
- Confirm accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
- Ensure monthly bank reconciliations are completed
- Ensure required debt payments are made on a timely basis
- Review commissions and bonuses for payroll in a timely manner
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Uphold an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Reporting:
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Insure all general ledger accounts for all companies are reconciled monthly.
- Benchmark performance of departments/divisions/individuals against company goals
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report issues to management weekly. (Tuesday management meeting)
- Maintain and improve management cost reports to ensure real time data.
- Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Compliance:
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual review
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Requirements:
- Experience in an accounting position with a homebuilder is highly preferred.
- Experience in an accounting position in construction is required
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required
- Strong knowledge of Excel - medium or advanced level skills
- Marks Systems/IHMS experience preferred
