Ellsworth, an industry leading custom packager of adhesives, currently has a 2nd Shift Process Lead opportunity at KitPackers, located in Germantown, WI.
In cooperation with the Packaging Supervisors and Manufacturing Manager, coordinate and monitor all activities of production packaging employees (packaging epoxies, urethanes, greases, acrylics, silicones, and related materials). Interact with and provide training to all employees to allow them to perform to the best of their abilities.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferably from a custom adhesive, chemical, paint manufacturing or liquid packaging/filling environment
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED, HSED)
- Schedule/shift: 3:00pm – 11:30pm Monday - Friday
- Ability to handle the physical requirements, including repeated bending, stretching, twisting, and lifting.
- Basic math skills for measuring, counting and weighing is a must
- Effective reading and writing ability to interpret job paperwork, run jobs and record information
- Basic mechanical ability to work with hand tools to set up, adjust and disassemble equipment
- Must be self-directed, able work independently within the fast-paced production environment and comfortable performing repetitious tasks
- Detail oriented nature and precision is critical to ensure products adhere to designated quality standards
- Must be hardworking, punctual, dependable and work well with others
- Works responsibly and follow all safety and security procedures

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure procedural adherence such as department Work Instructions and departmental packaging processes are followed and production areas are kept neat and orderly.
- Primary resource for Packagers to perform paperwork sign-offs requiring Lead or Manager signatures. Proactively review job packets to ensure availability for timely sign-offs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all packaging machines, filling techniques and familiarity with the various properties of all materials being packaged.
- Stage plastics and material at work stations, complete material check and beginning weights.
- Assist Manufacturing/Packaging Engineers in developing new work instructions and provide group training on instructions as necessary.
- Perform first piece check offs and ensure that packagers are signing off on checks and recording data accurately. Perform equipment clean checks to ensure continuity of orders being processed.
- Perform daily and weekly scale checks. Train Packager IIIs to perform these functions. Ensure that records are complete and accurate for audit purposes.
- Lead and participate in 5S and LEAN activities for the department. Ensure that packaging area meets or exceeds 5S standards.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and actively participate on improvement teams.
- Provide shift coverage backup for Packaging Supervisors on both shifts.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Indirectly supervises all packager employees. In cooperation with the KP Manufacturing Manager, the Lead will carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; training employees and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
