Position Summary
Provides transportation to the residents for appointments and errands, such as medical appointments, banking, shopping, worship services, entertainment, and other miscellaneous activities. Ensures safety of all passengers. Runs event and community errands as needed.
Essential Duties
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Assists residents into and out of vehicle in a safe manner.
- Drives residents to events and community programs per the activity schedule
- Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
- Ability to drive the community vehicle to transport Community residents, including but not limited to providing transportation to local physician or dental offices, trips outside Embark for shopping, entertainment, education, and/or appointments, both non-medical and medical, outside of the Community, as assigned.
- Practices safe driving techniques at all times. Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories and reports & coordinates vehicle maintenance repairs.
- Establishes and monitors daily and weekly trip inspection & preventative maintenance programs and maintains records regarding the maintenance of all vehicles.
- Ensures charges are submitted to the business office daily for community travel expenses.
- Maintain a safe driving record according to Eclipse guidelines.
- Handles emergency situations and basic First Aid.
- Calls the resident rooms for appointment/activity reminders, as needed.
- Carries belongings, open doors, and cautions residents on steps and other objects in their path. Loads/unloads walkers and wheelchairs.
- Welcomes all on-site family members and visitors including vendors, clients, and job candidates, determines nature of business and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
- Responds immediately and appropriately to all accidents/emergencies per Eclipse policies and procedures.
- Accounts for presence of all residents when leaving/returning to the community.
- Reports potentially unsafe conditions to the Executive Director.
- Is fully knowledgeable of the fire evacuation and disaster policy of the community and participates in the fire and disaster drills
- Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning residents and staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned and which relate to the success of Eclipse and the Care, Comfort and Happiness of our residents.
Qualifications
- Education: High School or GED.
- Must be 21 years of age to drive a commercial vehicle and hold a current Class A or B license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
- Prospective drivers must have and maintain good driving records.
